The Department of Computer Applications hosted a Code-a-thon (“Code Enthus Club”) on 05 March 2026 (09:00–12:00) in Block V BCA Lab. A 3‑day Hands‑on Skill Elevation Program on Cloud Computing was held 10–12 Sept 2025 (09:00–15:00) in the 4th‑floor Lab for II BCA & II BCA‑Gen AI students. Cybersecurity expert Sharika Nowsheen addressed 100 participants on modern threats (ransomware, targeted attacks) and practical defenses (patching, updates, network hygiene), boosting awareness and readiness for cyber careers.

Byteblitz’26, an interdepartmental technical fest held on 16 March 2026 at Hi‑Tech Hall‑2, featured competitions like SparkTank, ByteBattle, Brand Blitz and ReCraft, engaging 50 participants in creative, technical, and sustainable challenges while promoting skill development and innovation.

Awareness Program On Ethical And Safer Use Of Internet

The Department of Computer Applications (BCA & BCA Gen AI) organized an Awareness Program on Ethical and Safer Use of Internet on 13 February 2026 at Block V, Gallery Hall 1, with 120 participants. The session focused on digital safety, ethical internet practices, phishing and password security, cyber hygiene, and career awareness in cybersecurity, helping students build safe online habits and digital literacy.

Hackathon Insights was held on 11 February 2026 at Block V, Room 104 for I BCA and BCA GenAI students. The session featured senior students sharing practical hackathon experiences, skill-building tips, and career benefits, helping juniors understand how to prepare for and confidently participate in technical competitions.

Industry Institute Conclave

The Industry Institute Conclave was held on 16 March 2026 at TRP Auditorium and brought together 410 participants from academia and industry. Featuring expert speakers from Fractal Analytics, Ford, and Dream One Studio, the event focused on AI, analytics, VR/AR, sustainability, and industry–academia collaboration, while also identifying skill gaps and strengthening partnerships for future academic and professional growth.

Zyren 2k26 (24 Hours Hackathon)

The hackathon provided a practical platform for students to apply cybersecurity and technical knowledge to solve real-world problems. Participants enhanced their skills in teamwork, time management, and collaborative problem-solving during the 24-hour challenge. Exposure to industry experts like Nixon Ebenezer and the judging panel helped students understand current technology trends and expectations. The multi-stage evaluation process encouraged innovation, as only the most promising ideas advanced to the final round and presentations. The event boosted students’ confidence, creativity, and motivation to participate in future technical competitions and pursue innovation-driven learning

An industrial visit to Edinz Tech Private Ltd was conducted on 13 February 2026 for 151 students of BCA and BCA Gen AI. The visit gave participants practical exposure to SDLC, industry tools, Agentic AI, and real-world software development practices, while also creating awareness about career opportunities and current industry expectations.

The second round of the day began with Ms.Raghavi and Ms.Saishree, the Emcee, extending a warm welcome to the participants and briefing the audience about the format and rules of the round 2 competition. Participants actively took part in the event by selecting prompts and creating their own audio versions with unique perspectives. Each participant presented their redesigned prompts to the audience, explaining the concept and creativity behind their work. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and innovative ideas, which reflected the artistic and technical skills of the students.

CyberGenAI’2026

CyberGenAI’2026 was a two-part international conference on cybersecurity and generative AI held on 13 March 2026 at TRP Auditorium, organized by SRMIST Ramapuram with international academic partners. With 198 papers submitted and 96 accepted, the event featured expert talks, research presentations, and discussions on AI security, ethical use, and future research directions, strengthening global collaboration and innovation.

Journal Club Event on Roadmap of Research Methodology

The Journal Club Event on “Roadmap of Research Methodology” was held offline on 18 December 2025 for 65 participants from the Department of Computer Science and Applications (BCA & BCA Gen AI). Guided by Dr. S. Umarani, the session explained the research process from problem identification to report writing, along with literature review, research design, data collection, sampling, analysis, and ethics, helping students build a strong foundation for academic research.

The two-day workshop on “Vibe Coding Tools – Kiro and Cursor” was held on 5–6 March 2026 at the Block V 4th floor lab for 30 participants. Information Security Education in association With NSS

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with NSS, organized an Information Security Education program on 5 December 2025 at Block V, 4th Floor, Lab 2, to mark World Computer Literacy Day. The session raised awareness about cyber safety, responsible internet use, and digital literacy, and 55 students actively participated in the program.

The Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, in association with Plant Green Inertia, organized a two-day industry-oriented program featuring a Hands-on Workshop on Advanced Digital Marketing with AI, followed by a Hackathon with Internship Opportunities, on 21–22 August 2025. The sessions were led by Mr. Laven Lokesh Barani, Founder of Plant Green Inertia. The workshop introduced participants to AI-powered digital marketing strategies, practical campaign planning, automation tools, and emerging industry trends, while the hackathon enabled students to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges and compete for internship opportunities.

The session was delivered by Dr. S. Meyyappan, Deputy Director, Centre for Internet of Things (CIoT), Madras Institute of Technology, Chromepet, Chennai. The session was delivered by Dr. N. Krishnamoorthy, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA. The expert talk focused on the fundamentals of academic research, effective research paper writing, publication ethics, literature review techniques, and strategies for delivering impactful research presentations. Contest on Poster Designing

The Project Club of the Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a Two-Day Alumni Workshop on "Full Stack Web Development (Project Demonstration – Development to Deployment)" on 14 September 2024 and 21 September 2024. The workshop was conducted in online mode by Mr. S. Nithish Kumar, Distinguished MCA Alumnus (2020–2022 Batch) and Software Engineer at Optum, Hyderabad, for first-year MCA students. The sessions provided practical insights into the complete software development lifecycle, covering frontend and backend technologies, project architecture, database integration, version control, deployment techniques, and industry best practices. Through live project demonstrations and interactive discussions, participants gained hands-on experience in building and deploying full stack web applications, strengthening their technical competencies and enhancing their industry readiness.

Industrial Visit “Software development and Testing”

The Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized an Industrial Visit on Software Development and Testing to Retech Lasers, Varadharajapuram, Chennai, on 9 September 2024 for first-year MCA and MCA Gen AI students. The visit provided participants with practical exposure to software development processes, software testing methodologies, and industry-standard development practices. Students interacted with industry professionals to understand the complete software development lifecycle, quality assurance techniques, testing tools, and real-world project workflows. The industrial visit effectively bridged the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations, enhancing students' technical knowledge and professional awareness.

One day workshop on Generative AI

The Code Enthus Club of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a One-Day Workshop on Generative AI on 10 September 2024 for first-year MCA and MCA (Gen AI) students. The workshop was led by Dr. Arvin Subramanian, AI Solution Specialist, Alpharithm Technologies Pvt. Ltd. The session introduced participants to the fundamentals of Generative AI, including large language models, prompt engineering, AI-assisted application development, and emerging industry use cases.

Geek Speak

The Quiz Club of the Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized "Geek Speak: A Technology Quiz" on 30 July 2024 in online mode for UG and PG students. The event was designed to test participants' knowledge of emerging technologies, programming concepts, computer science fundamentals, and current trends in the IT industry. Conducted as an interactive and time-bound competition, the quiz encouraged analytical thinking, technical awareness, and healthy academic competition among students. One day seminar on Climate Change

The Department of Computer Science and Applications (MCA), Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Ramapuram, organized a One-Day Seminar on Climate Change on 30 July 2024 at the TRP Auditorium for MCA students. The seminar was delivered by Mr. Deepak Venkatachalam, Environmentalist from Suzhal Arivaom. The session focused on the causes and impacts of climate change, environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and the importance of adopting sustainable practices to address global environmental challenges.
